The Importance of Self Care

The more you know, the better you can make choices, in theory right?

The more I read from moms, entrepreneurs, and overall successful women, the more I hear about self-care. We all know that you can’t pour from an empty pot but sometimes, it feels like we have to do just that. We get burnt out, sick, and utterly exhausted from daily life. So, how do we make sure that we are joyfully going into each day with a healthy self-care program that actually works? Here’s what I’ve learned:

-Taking care of yourself is important. Really important.

-Use your driving time to pray, sit quietly in silence, jam out to your favorite tunes, or listen do an audio book that you’ve been wanting to hear.

-Do something for you, take a 10 minute walk when you get home to just breathe and enjoy the scenery.

-Go to bed 30 minutes earlier, go to sleep or read a book.

-Try to be in each moment, even the difficult ones. When you notice you’re just going through the motions, take a deep breath and re-focus.

-Have coffee or lunch with a friend.

-Be patient with yourself. Learning a new skill takes time.
